Seasons of Gratitude: Our Favorite Things About Fall on the Farm

As the heat of summer fades and the first cool breeze rolls across the pasture, we can feel change stirring all around us — not just in the air, but in our hearts. Fall has always been one of our favorite seasons here at Hullabaloo Farms. It’s a time of slowing down, taking stock, and marveling at the beauty of God’s creation.

The turning leaves, golden light, and gentle rhythm of harvest all remind us of this simple truth: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Here are a few of the ways we love to embrace this God-given season on the farm.

🌾 1. Welcoming the Change in Seasons

Each morning feels like a fresh reminder of God’s faithfulness. The air is cool, the fields are quiet, and a soft mist covers the land. We start our days with gratitude — for another sunrise, another chance to care for His creation, and another season of purpose.

Evening chores become sacred moments too — when the sky turns gold and the animals settle in, we’re reminded to rest in His timing and trust in His provision.

🍞 2. Baking and Gathering Around the Table

Fall naturally draws us back into the kitchen. The smells of cinnamon, vanilla, and pumpkin spice fill the air as we mix up our sourdough pancakes, brownies, and biscuits. There’s something deeply spiritual about feeding others — it’s an act of love that mirrors God’s care for us.

Every meal, whether it’s simple or grand, becomes an opportunity to pause and give thanks for His abundance.

🕯️ 3. Creating with a Purpose

As the days grow shorter, we find ourselves drawn to quiet, creative work — soap-making, blending teas, and pouring lotion bars. Each product we craft is made with prayer and gratitude, knowing it will bless someone else.

These slower moments remind us that God’s work in us continues, even when life feels still. Just as the earth rests and renews in fall, so do our hearts.

🐐 4. Caring for Our Animals with Gratitude

Preparing for winter means extra chores — laying down straw, reinforcing shelters, and ensuring our animals are warm and well-fed. It’s hard work, but it’s holy work too. Caring for God’s creatures teaches us patience, stewardship, and compassion.

Every bucket of water, every flake of hay is an act of obedience and gratitude.

🍂 5. Slowing Down and Savoring Family Time

Fall invites us to slow down, reflect, and draw closer — to one another and to God. We love evening walks through the pasture, hot tea on the porch, and quiet nights by the fire.

It’s in those simple, still moments that we hear His voice the clearest — whispering peace, joy, and gratitude for all He’s given.

✝️ A Season of Thanksgiving

This season, our hearts overflow with thankfulness — for the harvest, for the rhythm of work and rest, and for every person who supports our small family farm.

We’re reminded that each season has its own blessings and its own lessons. Fall teaches us to release, to rest, and to trust that even in the waiting, God is still working.

From our family at Hullabaloo Farms to yours — may your fall be filled with warmth, gratitude, and the peace that only comes from Him. 🍁💛
