Favorite Medicinal Herbs from the Homestead (Part 2)

One of the beautiful things about learning herbalism is realizing just how many plants offer gentle, traditional support for everyday life. After sharing some of our most-loved herbs, we wanted to continue the conversation with a few more favorites that have earned a regular place in our homestead routines.

These herbs are simple, versatile, and deeply rooted in traditional use — the kind you’ll often find growing in gardens, fields, and along fence lines.

🌿 Nettle

Nettle is one of our favorite nourishing herbs, especially as winter fades into spring. Traditionally used to support overall wellness, nettle is rich in naturally occurring minerals and is often enjoyed as a tea.

It’s a wonderful herb for seasonal transitions and a reminder that some of the most powerful plants grow quietly and abundantly.

🌼 Elderflower

Often paired with elderberry, elderflower is a gentle, fragrant herb traditionally used to support immune health and seasonal comfort. It makes a lovely tea on its own or blended with other herbs.

We love elderflower for its light, floral taste and its long history in traditional wellness practices.

🌱 Mullein

Mullein has been used for generations to support respiratory comfort. Its soft, fuzzy leaves are typically dried for tea or infused into oil.

This humble plant is a beautiful example of how simple herbs can offer gentle support when used thoughtfully.

🌿 Yarrow

Yarrow is a classic homestead herb traditionally used for skin support and overall wellness. It’s commonly included in salves, teas, and first-aid blends.

It’s one of those herbs that reminds us of the deep connection between the land and traditional healing practices.

🌸 Lavender

Lavender is beloved for its calming aroma and soothing properties. Traditionally used to support relaxation and rest, it’s commonly found in teas, sachets, and natural skincare.

A little lavender goes a long way — offering comfort in both body and spirit.

🍃 Rosemary

Rosemary is a warming, aromatic herb traditionally used to support circulation, focus, and digestion. It’s equally useful in the kitchen and the apothecary.

We love rosemary for its versatility — from cooking to infused oils — and its ability to bring warmth and clarity.

🤍 Herbal Living, One Plant at a Time

Herbal living isn’t about knowing everything at once. It’s about learning slowly, building confidence, and developing a relationship with the plants around you.

Whether you’re growing herbs in your backyard, foraging carefully, or purchasing quality dried herbs, each step brings you closer to a more intentional, natural way of living.
